From this 2022, the Christmas period will be non-working for courts and tribunals in Spain. A historical milestone that gives us from December 24 to January 6, which means that the two central weeks of Christmas in Spain are no longer a working period in the operation of the Administration of Justice.
It is necessary to consider that it is a significant demand from the General Council of Spanish Lawyers, which has been claiming for years as the only formula that allows a true conciliation of professionals during these dates.
The reform of the Organic Law of the Judiciary (LOPJ) will enter into force on December 24, 2022, after its publication in the BOE, as contemplated by the one recently approved by the Senate on December 22.
What does disqualification for courts and tribunals mean for citizens?
The consummation of this reform directly supposes that no indications will be made, nor will the days be counted from the procedural point of view.
However, it is important to note that it does not imply the closure of the jurisdictional bodies, nor does it affect urgent cases or guards, which will continue to function normally as it happens during the month of August -already established as non-working days in the Organic Law of the Judiciary.
